Places to Visit

Beaver Lake Trail

Beaver Creek

One of our favorite hikes in the area, Beaver Lake Trail features stunning views on the way to an alpine lake tucked beneath the mountain. The full hike from Beaver Creek Village is a challenging 6-mile round trip, but those looking for a gentler option can take the gondola up and connect to via the Royal Elk Trail for a scenic 4.5-mile hike with much less climbing. Either way, the views are well worth the effort!

Five Senses Trail

Beaver Creek

The Five Senses Trail is a beautiful 1-mile out and back trail that starts right in Beaver Creek Village (and is the start of the Beaver Lake hike). It's also where our story came full circle -- after carving our initials into a tree here as teenagers (in 2015!), Tim brought Rachel back to the same spot over a decade later to propose. If you take this walk, keep an eye out for our tree!

Nottingham Lake

Avon

Just a short walk from the Westin, Nottingham Lake is a great spot for a relaxing afternoon with beautiful mountain views. The flat, paved trail around the lake is perfect for an easy stroll; you can also rent paddleboards, kayaks, and pedal boats or simply enjoy a picnic by the water. If you're looking for a low-key way to soak in the scenery, this is one of our favorite places nearby.

Piney Lake

Vail

One of the most stunning places in the Vail Valley (and where we took our engagement photos!). Drinks and food, paddle boarding and canoeing, a small beach, hiking trails, and if you're lucky, moose! Piney Lake is about an hour up a dirt road in Vail, which can be rough in certain conditions - four wheel drive is recommended.

Edwards Riverwalk

Edwards

The Edwards Riverwalk is a charming stretch of shops, restaurants, and walking paths along the Eagle River. It's a great place to grab a coffee, browse local boutiques, enjoy a meal, or simply take a stroll by the water. If you're looking for a relaxed way to spend a few hours and experience a bit of local mountain-town life, this is one of our favorite spots nearby.

Vail Village

Vail

The Vail Village is a great place to spend a few hours wandering through shops, grabbing a coffee or a bite to eat, and enjoying the mountain scenery. If you're staying through Sunday, be sure to check out the Vail Farmers' Market, which takes over the village with local vendors, food, art, and live music.

Red Sky Golf Club

Wolcott

If you're looking to squeeze in a round during your stay, Red Sky Golf Club offers two beautiful championship courses set against some of the best mountain views in the valley. It's a favorite among locals and visitors alike -- and for good reason!

Beaver Creek Golf Club

Beaver Creek

With mountain views, winding fairways, and a location right in Beaver Creek, this course is a great way to spend a few hours outdoors. Whether you're a serious golfer or just looking for an excuse to enjoy the scenery, Beaver Creek Golf Club is worth a visit.
