They say if you never leave home, you'll never meet anybody—but they never said how far away from the front door. Fall of 2021, at the University of Iowa, we had the wonderful idea to meet people on our apartment floor. Sterling walked 8 steps down the hallway to my unit, and there we met. Upon chatting we discovered that we lived in the same building for an entire year and never crossed paths. From that point on, we knew we didn't want to spend a day apart.
