Big Basin Redwoods State Park
California's oldest state park! This was one of Rachel's favorite state parks growing up and is now a favorite of both of ours. The park is still recovering from the 2020 CZU Lightning Complex Fire, it is currently open with restrictions. Roaring Camp
See operating steam trains in person! Take a beautiful ride through the redwoods all the way to the beach and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park
Another beautiful state park in the area worth visiting! Right next to Roaring Camp Railroads.
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
One of the few remaining beach side amusement parks on the West Coast. The Giant Dipper, it's famous roller coaster, just celebrated it's 100th anniversary! The municipal wharf nearby has many great options for fresh seafood.
Natural Bridges State Beach
This area has a State Beach that is famous for it's natural rock formation, a Marine Reserve, and a famous Monarch Trail.
Steamer Lane & The Santa Cruz Surfing Museum
A legendary area for surfing (both the activity and spectating!), beautiful views, and a fun visit if you want to learn about Santa Cruz's long surfing history.
Beauregard Vineyards
An excellent local vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains that offers wine tastings. Wines in the area have been winning many awards, there are many to check out!
