How did we meet?

It all started with a shake.....

Let's be clear, romance isn't easy. There are dating apps, speed dating, and so on and so on. Somethings, you need a little help - or a chocolate shake. In 2016, Rachel was working at AMC Theaters at the Aurora Southlands 16 Mall where she worked as a mobile cashier. At the time, she worked with the Best Man John, who worked in the theater kitchen while Rachel worked at the front house. Kyle soon joined the team, and the two best friends got to see each other more even if it was at work. Rachel honestly wasn't impressed with Kyle and found him annoying. He was loud, no filter, and made jokes at the worst time. One work night in June, John made a chocolate shake with a brownie toping for a order and Kyle was sent to deliver to a guest in Theater 7. It was dark, Kyle's knee was acting up from a teenage hiking injury which caused his knee to give out - resulting in he and Rachel colliding. The shake covered Rachel's black uniform, and the two were on the ground along with the sweet mess. In the heat of the moment, with fast thinking, Kyle looked at the mess caused by his knee giving out, held up the brownie that once topped the chocolate shake, held it out to Rachel and asked, "You want the Brownie, too?" with a grin on his face. Rachel was not impressed at all. Within the months of June and the beginning of July, Kyle worked on making it up to Rachel. He asked around and found out she loved anime and cosplay - especially anything related to Dragon Ball, one of the oldest and most beloved anime of all time. He asked managers to schedule him to work with Rachel so he could get to know her and asked her to hang out after work almost every day, which surprised Rachel very much. At the end of June that same year, she finally agreed to meet up after work to play a round of Pokémon Go, where the romance really started. By July 17th, Rachel was pretty sure she liked Kyle, but wasn't so sure about it yet until, during a night shift, Kyle went to Rachel's twin sister Allison and let her know he planned on taking her to the Ghost Busters movie that night. Allison, who at the time shared a car with Rachel, gave him some helpful tips when dealing with her twin - mostly do not mess with her glasses. So, Kyle went to Rachel, handed her a movie ticket and said, "I'll be in the seat next to this one" and went to clock out from his shift with high hopes. Rachel asked for extra help to finish her closing duties and showed up for the movie right on time. She sat next to Kyle with a smile on her face. They had their first kiss at that movie. At midnight after the movie, when he drove her home all the way out in Bennett, they agreed to start a relationship and started dating. Since then, they had been crazy about each other. They attended Conventions, watched new shows, played video games, and even hosted panels - where Rachel learned Kyle is a helpful guy but a horrible cameraman. In April of 2019, Kyle moved to Montana to attend the Job Corp program to help find better work. Rachel saw him off and wrote to him every week. They called, texted, and never had a day where a "I Love you" Text wasn't sent. In November that year, for Thanksgiving Rachel and her dad arranged to have Kyle return home before his mom, older sister and little brother headed off to Wyoming to Thanksgiving. Without hinting anything, Rachel sat down to join Jessie, Beth and Beth's son Sam at Chili’s and got her phone ready. Kyle surprised everyone at the front door. Jessie obviously was so happy to see her son again she threw her chair back and ran over to him. It was the best surprise ever! Kyle finished his work at Job Corp and graduated in time for the 2020 Covid-19 lock down where he waited months to see Rachel, who was suffering with covid to the near point of hospitalization. Kyle texted her every day and waited months to see Rachel. They moved in together in 2021 and got engaged in 2022. The two will never forget that all of this started with a shake.

How We Survived a Long Distance and a even LONGER Lock Down

Not even Covid-19 kept them apart!

Kyle moved to Montana in 2019 to attend the Job Corp program at Trapper Creek. He was talked to about it by family members and wanted to talk to Rachel about it. She wasn't too happy to be away from her boyfriend, but eventually, they agreed. They planned everything out, and eventually Kyle went off to Montana. While there, Kyle called Rachel every night, texted her every day, and even got so many letters from her along with many care packages. He even sends her a massive teddy bear he won at a game night. He returned that Thanksgiving to surprise his mom and siblings, showing up suddenly at family food out of nowhere. When the new year started, he noticed Rachel sounded sick over the phone...and she was. In December of 2019, Rachel got sick while working at her movie theater job. She had trouble breathing and worked no more than 2 hours a day because of this. By March of 2020, the full list of symptoms of Covid-19 came out and Rachel's family finally knew why she was sick to the point she was almost hospitalized. For the next five months, she would be at home recovering from Covid and getting her strength back to find work again. By then, Kyle had been home for months waiting for her to get better. He waited and waited until she was given the clear and raced to see him. Rachel's lungs haven't fully recovered from her first and deadly round with the 2020 pandemic virus. A good hardy laugh will send her into a coughing fit. But, even when it was hard to breathe, Kyle was the only thing on her mind and got her through lock down. Kyle only had covid for a week and was totally fine. When she had covid again in 2022, following the passing of Kyle's mom Jessica, Kyle made sure she had everything she needed to get better. Tea, cough drops, everything while Rachel made sure Kyle was doing alright and took care of him. They take care of each other, with love, medicine, and good home cooking.
