On July 19, 2023, we had our first date at Bosscat Kitchen & Libations in Irvine, CA. We had recently started messaging on Hinge and decided to meet live for a drink. Rachel ordered "The Good Life" and I had an Old Fashioned. The time flew by quickly and before they knew it, two hours had gone by. We were particularly amused by the fact that we both ran on the same running trail and had probably run by each other without knowing it at some point. For our first Valentine's Day, Rachel gave me a plaque with a map of the location and coordinate points to commemorate our first date. After our engagement, we returned to Bosscat and sat in the same spot to drink the same cocktails from our first date; we couldn't think of a better place to celebrate our next chapter.

Board games have been a constant throughout our relationship. One of our early dates involved playing the game Zip-It (Rachel won easily) and we've continued to play them for the past couple years. While apart, we have spent many nights playing board games online. One of our favorites is Azul: Queen's Garden and you will see thematic components from the game at our wedding, including the hexagon pieces, the symbols, and even the color scheme.
