The Lakes Basin features a number of lakes, walking or bike trails, and endless hiking trails. We’d suggest you visit, whether to hike, take photos, or lounge by a lake.
A very short (1.3 miles), gorgeous hike that can be combined with Rainbow Falls (6 miles round trip). You'll need to take the shuttle down to the Postpile if you plan on arriving at the trail head after 7:30AM. Catch the shuttle at the Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge.

If time allows, we suggest driving into Yosemite National Park. Tuolumne Meadows is approximately one hour from June Lake and Yosemite Valley three hours. Visit recreation.gov to make a reservation to enter the park during daytime hours.
Mono Lake is a massive and gorgeous lake with an unusual geologic feature— tufas! Explore the beach yourself or visit the visitors center to learn about the rich history and ecological life at the lake.
Check out Hot Creek for all your geothermal and volcanic activity needs! You know Long Valley, just east of Mammoth Lakes is a huge caldera right!
