The bride and groom met through the groom’s previous boss and his boss’ wife who were friends with the bride’s brother and sister-in-law. They tried to hook the two up at first since they thought they’d be a perfect match, but the groom was hesitant about dating someone his boss is friends with, and the bride wasn’t super interested since every Snapchat the groom sent her was of him out hunting but never actually landing anything. The first time they met in person was at the groom’s holiday work party potluck, where the groom showed up with a crave case from White Castle.. which the bride found hilarious. Later on in the evening, someone asked the groom to tell the story of the time he was attacked (twice) by a police K9 in pursuit, to which the bride mentioned she had a very large and protective German Shepherd. The groom never backs down from a challenge, so within a few weeks he was napping with this ferocious beast on the bride’s couch while she was at work, sending her cuddly pictures. And once her dog fell for the groom, the bride had to too. The rest is history.

The groom had this date night proposal planned for a while but was waiting to surprise his then girlfriend. His then girlfriend kept scheduling work shifts, postponing their date night, and he was finally able to get on one knee (beside their first dog) on December 12, 2022. The groom let the bride know he had to ask before her hip surgery (two days following) so that he knew she said yes without the influence of pain medication.
