In early 2016, Rachel was working at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta and Brian was working at Industry Tavern, which was conveniently located next door. Industry Tavern quickly became Rachel's favorite watering hole in Buckhead thanks to the close proximity and fantastic service. Brian always had Rachel's drink waiting when she arrived and let Rachel play her choice of music over the restaurant's speakers (usually country). A mutual love of music, sports, food, and travel initially brought them together and the rest is history! They welcomed their puppy, Bercky, into their family in December 2017 and bought their house in Smyrna in December 2019.
The night before leaving for Brian's birthday trip, Brian suggested going out to dinner at one of their favorite restaurants in Atlanta, Double Zero. Amidst the stress of finishing up work, packing, and getting ready to leave the country, Rachel didn't think twice about Brian's suggestion of going out to eat or the dressy outfit he was wearing. However, she did remind him that they had a lot to get done and wouldn't be able to have a long dinner. After a great meal, they were getting ready to leave the restaurant and Brian asked if they could take a picture outside. Rachel wasn't sure why they needed a picture (in the dimly lit street lights), but again didn't think twice. As the hostess was taking their photo, Brian got down on one knee and proposed! Rachel was in complete shock, but immediately said yes! They were able to celebrate their engagement in St. Kitts, a trip that they have coined as their "engagement moon," and couldn't be more thrilled to plan their wedding in Charleston.
