Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Rachel Krueger and Andrew Santillo
We're so excited to have you in our neck of the woods during the beautiful holiday season. Whether you plan to stay in the Joliet area or will be exploring Chicago during your visit, we've listed some places to go and things to see while you're here!
Christkindlmarket Chicago

Christkindlmarket Chicago

50 West Washington Street, Chicago, IL 60602
, (312) 494-2175

Open from November 18-December 24 this winter, this German-style outdoor market has become so popular that it has expanded to several locations in Illinois and Wisconsin. Treat yourself to a mug of hot glühwein, some schnitzel, and (Rachel's favorite) a bag of candied pecans while shopping for handmade ornaments and other specialty items. The market is open seven days a week. Friday and Saturday from 11 A.M. - 9 P.M., Sunday - Thursday from 11 A.M. - 8 P.M.

Macy's State Street Window Display

Macy's State Street Window Display

111 North State Street, Chicago, IL 60602
, (312) 781-1000

If you find yourself in downtown Chicago the weekend of the wedding, don't miss the chance to take a stroll down State Street to check out the incredibly creative and enchanting Christmas window displays at Macy's.

La Boulangerie & Co Logan

La Boulangerie & Co Logan

3129 West Logan Boulevard, Chicago, IL 60647
, (773) 666-5880

It felt wrong to give a list of places to go and things to do without giving a shoutout to our favorite coffee shop and bakery (which also happens to be the location of our very first date). Located right in the heart of Logan Square, La Boulangerie boasts a menu of phenomenal french pastries and sandwiches, as well as plenty of hot beverages to warm up with. The bakery is surrounded by dozens of superb restaurants and cocktail bars, as well as a vintage art deco movie theatre and lots of local shops (get some gift shopping done while in the area!).

Rialto Square Theatre

Rialto Square Theatre

102 North Chicago Street, Joliet, IL 60432
, (815) 726-6600

This absolutely stunning theatre has a variety of holiday shows, movie screenings, and events throughout the winter season. (Hint hint: Santa will be in on Sunday the 4th!) Check out their website to look at showtimes and ticketing.

Juliet's Tavern

Juliet's Tavern

205 North Chicago Street, Joliet, IL 60432
, (815) 666-1244

Comfort food and cocktails! Located in a 19th-century building in Joliet's historic district, Juliet's tavern has a great atmosphere and serves a varied menu with something for everyone.

Home Cut Donuts, Inc.

Home Cut Donuts, Inc.

815 West Jefferson Street, Joliet, IL 60435
, (815) 727-3511

Rachel asked Andrew what to feature under things to do and places to go in Joliet, and his immediate answer was "Home Cut!" Take it from us, this 1966 donut shop is THE place to get your sugar fix in Joliet.

Maurie's Table

Maurie's Table

2360 Glenwood Avenue, Joliet, IL 60435
, (815) 744-2619

Andrew vouches for Maurie's when it comes to great deep-dish pizza in the Joliet area. Rachel says to let her know if you're going to the city because she's got a list for you. As a matter of fact, the Maid of Honor has a whole spreadsheet.....
