We met each other while living in Los Angeles, California. As soon as we met, something just clicked and felt "right". The timing also couldn't have been better for Rachel to meet such a kind and caring person, because shortly after meeting, her mother sadly passed away of brain cancer. It was through this difficult time that our love blossomed and proved unbreakable. Over the next three years our love grew ever stronger and when Aditya decided to move back to his home country of Nepal, Rachel jumped at the opportunity to move with him and meet his family. It was this epic leap of faith that solidified this relationship to last a lifetime.
Shrouded by the facade of a "family vacation" for the yearly celebration of Raki, a Hindu celebration between brothers and sisters, the entire family set off for the beautiful hill station of Darjeeling in India. Known worldwide for its unique tea grown in high elevation, Rachel was invited for her first family vacation. Little did she know this was where Aditya had planned a secret proposal. Early one misty morning, before the rest of the family rose, Aditya casually suggested going for a walk to see the morning views. Along a vine-ridden path cut into the hill side, they walked together and absorbed the fresh mountain air. Suddenly, pulled out from a baggy-sweatpants pocket emerged a carved wooden box. "So, do you want to marry me?" Aditya muttered as he opened the small box containing a glistening diamond ring. With tears of joy in her eyes Rachel exclaimed "YES!!" and they newly engaged couple enjoyed a firm embrace. Next thing you know, plans emerge for a wedding in India and the United States!
