We were both working at PGG Wrightson Seeds, and I (Joe) kept seeing this pretty blonde girl walking past my desk. One day, I saw that she was collecting something from the photocopier, so I quickly sent something to the printer as thought this would be a good opportunity to start up a conversation with this illustrious beauty. From there, me being the amazing romantic that I am (not), I kept leaving little Post it notes on Rachael’s desk saying “Hi From Joe”. Rachael thought I did that with everyone in the office, so she wasn’t fully aware this was my pick up skills on display in full force. After using a full pad of 3M Post it notes, my “Hi from Joe” messages finally paid off, and I’m now about to marry the women of my dreams.
We were exploring New York on Valentine’s Day, making our way around Manhattan’s iconic spots getting kissing photos everywhere, feeling all loved up. That night, I took Rach out for a surprise dinner at a restaurant that was recommended to me by a friend (thanks Jules) in Brooklyn. This was the perfect setting for a three course meal followed by dessert, which was served at the rooftop cocktail bar of the restaurant that overlooked the Manhattan skyline. When the waitress placed the dessert plate in front of Rach, she read the words “Will You Marry Me”, as I went down onto one knee. The whole bar started clapping and wooping, Rach was smiling, trying to hold back tears ... I was still down on one knee. “So?” I asked? She finally burst out “yes” and kissed me, and everyone at the bar erupted into cheers.
