Flight
Illinois has two major airports, but it is important you fly in to Chicago O'Hare so you are not stuck too close to downtown Chicago. It's very expensive and time consuming to drive from Midway airport to our wedding venue (because of the tolls and traffic!). Most major airlines fly to ORD except for Southwest Airlines!
Rental Car
Most of you may want to get a rental car to drive around and explore. Illinois has A LOT of tollways. Please make sure you talk with your rental car company to see if they have a iPass available to use before trying to travel on I90 (the major highway to get to our wedding venue and into the city). If they don't, you will be paying a lot in fees! Please contact Rachael with questions and she can help!
House Or Rental
Airbnb may be the best option for large parties. The best and closed areas to look for Airbnbs would be Carpentersville, Huntley, Algonquin, Elgin/South Elgin, Crystal Lake and McHenry. If you find a town and aren't sure if it is a good location, please ask Rachael and she can provide some guidance!
Train
If you are wanting to travel into Chicago for cheap, the Metra is a great way to it! Lalo and Rachael do this often when traveling into the city to save money on parking in the city. Please download "Ventra" as this will give you updated departure and arrival times for the train, helps you purchase your tickets, and can give you bus schedules if you want to try that within the city. Lalo and Rachael often take the Metra from the Crystal Lake or Pingree Road Station and travel into the Ogilvie Transportation Center Station (takes you right downtown).
Travel Note
If you are planning on driving to downtown, we highly recommend you download the "Spot Hero" app to help you find less expensive parking area. Highly recommend to find an area with covered parking, open parking can be dangerous depending on the area you are parking.
