Liberia Airport

We highly recommend that you fly into Liberia Airport (LIR). It is approximately 1 - 1.5 hours drive from LIR to Playa Potrero, where we live and the wedding festivities will be! San Jose (SJO) is the other international airport in Costa Rica, and is approximately a 5 hour drive from Potrero.

Rental Car

Renting a Car

Renting a car is very common in Costa Rica and navigating the roads is fairly easy for an experienced driver. You can rent a car at the Liberia airport. Of course, you must expect driving rules and etiquette to be different than the US, but if you pay close attention to other drivers, bikers, walkers, and the occasional cow in the road, you'll be just fine! We recommend shopping around for the best rental price. Dollar Rental and Adobe tend to be great, but we don't have a preferred company. Be aware that prices you see online do not reflect insurance costs, and Costa Rica has strict rules for insurance. We recommend buying the full insurance if you decide to rent a vehicle to ensure you'll be covered in case of any incidents.

Shuttle

Ecotrans Shuttle Company

If you are interested in a private shuttle from the airport in Liberia to Playa Potrero, we recommend the shuttle company Ecotrans. The cost is $25 per person for 2 or more people, or $50 if traveling alone. The trip from the airport is 1-1.5 hours long.

Interbus Shuttle Company

If you would like a shuttle from San Jose airport to Playa Potrero, we recommend booking with the shuttle company Interbus. The shuttle leaves from the airport 2 times per day: around 8:00am and 2:30pm. The cost is around $50 per person and takes between 5-6 hours.

Hotel Bahia del Sol

If you are looking to stay in a hotel while in Costa Rica, Bahia del Sol is where we recommend. Bahia del Sol is a small, beautiful resort with both 1 bedroom (sleeps up to 4) and 2 bedroom (sleeps up to 6) options, as well as family suites with a kitchen. It is close to town, on the beach, has a great pool (and bar) and the best part is, it is just across the street from the reception venue! If you are interested in Bahia del Sol, you should act very quickly as rooms are booking up!

House or Condo Rentals

There are plenty of houses and condos to rent on or off the beach if you are not interested in staying in a hotel. We recommend searching for homes in Surfside or on Playa Potrero for most convenient access to the wedding venue. Other locations you could check out are Flamingo, Las Catalinas, and Brasilito.
