Tamarindo

Tamarindo is a touristy surf town about a half hour away from Potrero. It's a great day trip if you want to take a surf lesson, buy a few local goods for souvenirs or eat in one of their many restaurants.

Rincón de la Vieja National Park

Rincon de la Vieja is a Volcano and beautiful National Park located 30 minutes from Liberia International Airport, about 1.5 hours from Playa Potrero. There are great hikes to waterfalls, mud baths and lots of animal sightings. You can see the peak of the volcano on a clear day. You can get to Rincon de la Vieja by rental car or hire a shuttle to take you there.

Rio Celeste

Rio Celeste is a a beautiful river in the Tenorio Volcano National Park. The river is famous for it's turquoise color caused by something to do with the nearby volcano (better you look it up than have me try to explain it :) ). It's a lovely day hike about 2.5 hours from Playa Potrero. You can get there by rental car or arrange a shuttle.
