Welcoming out of town guests at the Portland Zoo! This is a smaller outdoor space and will not be closed to the community. We're excited to see you and kick off the weekend! Hoping our guests can come and say hello, and filter in/out throughout the afternoon and evening. Street parking in the neighborhood and some public lots nearby (Rising Tide).
There will be a food cart with Oga Suya (https://ogasuyamaine.square.site/) If you wanted a more sit down dinner option, and want to explore (which we so endorse!) the following are all walking distance from the Portland Zoo: Magissa (Mediteranean) Terlingua (BBQ & Southwestern food, one of Conrad's all time favorites!) Lil Chippy (Fish and Chips) Bite into Maine (Lobster Rolls) Duckfat Frites Shack (Poutine/ fries, lobster roll, sandwiches, milkshakes, not veg fries FYI) Izakaya Minato (Japanese)
Wear what makes you feel comfortable for a Garden Party! Some folks may want to dress up and others may prefer dressing down. The terrain will be grass and there are some lovely trails through the meadow and forrest. If you are interested in exploring, wear comfy shoes!
Guests may start arriving at 11:00. Ceremony Begins at 11:30!
The Audubon has ample parking spots. The Casablanca cruise is located in downtown Portland, street parking is available and parking garages if you dare.
Yes! We will have a Bus that will be leaving the Audubon at 4:00 PM.
Yes! We got permission to do this. Other bonuses include; Not drinking and driving, and Not having to park downtown for the after party!
We recommend bringing a layer (Jacket, shawl, etc) for the boat. If you want to change outfits you're welcome to. Me thinks most people will wear the same outfits!
Plan to get there at 4:30
2.5 hours! 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm Drinks and snacks and cake will also be provided!
The weather in Maine is strange and fickle. Always wise to bring a layer with you; prepare to be colder than you think you will be.
The Audubon is mostly grass, please prepare with whatever mobility device you need for that terrain. The Casablanca cruise has a metal/aluminum ramp with bilateral railings to get down to the dock. Then there is another small wooden ramp to get up into the boat with bilateral handrails (wood). Looking ahead at a tide calendar, it likely will be Low tide around the time we're boarding which means that the ramps will be steeper. Please let us and or the Casablanca staff know if you need assistance, supervision, or an extra hand.
Yes...... However: Boats are not known for having phenomenal bathrooms. We STRONGLY recommend using the bathroom at the Porthole before getting on the boat. The bathrooms are a flight of steps down to the bottom deck.
