Flight
We recommend using a flight search aggregator like Google Flights to find the cheapest round-trip flight from your starting location to Europe. From there, you can book the flights to and from Edinburgh separately to get the best overall rate. Please note the airports you'd be flying from, however, because cities like London have a ton of airports and you may need to do a complicated airport transfer if your flight to Edinburgh isn't from the airport you landed in. For most guests flying to Edinburgh from the USA, the easiest and most affordable point of entry will be into Heathrow or Gatwick airports. Since Edinburgh only has one small airport, you are not likely to find a direct flight from the states, however there will be plenty of connecting flight options to Edinburgh from either airport. Please contact Sean or Jordan if you need further assistance or have any questions.
Travel Note
Taxis: taxis are a convenient way to get from point A to point B throughout your time in Edinburgh. At the airport there is a marked taxi queue. While you're out and about on your trip you can always hail a cab or ask your hotel to call one for you. Traditional black cabs carry up to 5 passengers and will display an orange light when they are available to hire. You can pay by cash or card, but cash is recommended due to the 5% sur charge for card payments. If you need a large cab for your party, it must be pre-booked. The main companies are: Central Taxis (+44 131 229 2468), City Cabs (+44 131 228 1211) and Capital Cars (+44 131 777 7777). Uber also exists in Edinburgh. Bus: The cheapest transportation option from the airport to the city center is the Airlink 100 direct bus. You can catch this distinctive bright blue double-decker bus running 24 hours a day between airport stop A via Haymarket and Princes Street to Waverley Bridge, just outside the main railway station and close to the bus station. Pay the driver with cash or contactless debit/credit cards. The ride takes between 20-30 minutes and is equipped with wifi and charging stations. Tram: trams run from the airport to the city center, taking 40 min via Edinburgh Park, Murrayfield, Haymarket, and along Princes Street to Waverley Railway Station and York Place. If you are staying in the city center you will be going to Waverly Railway Station. Buy tickets from machines at any tram stop (cards accepted, no change given) and validate your ticket before boarding. The trams run daily every 8-15 min, to the city center 6:20am-10:45pm and out to the airport 5:30am-11:30pm.
