Question

Which documents do I need to travel to the United Kingdom?

Answer

Please make sure your passport does not expire within 6 months of the wedding date. To enter the UK, all you need is a valid passport but it must be valid through your entire stay. You may also need a visa, depending on which country you will be joining us from. We recommend sorting out your documentation as soon as possible to avoid any issues. An ETIAS travel authorization is an entry requirement for visa-exempt nationals (includes the US) traveling to certain European countries. The UK as a whole is currently NOT one of those countries. Please refer to the ETIAS website to check if any additional destinations in your itinerary before or after the wedding has this requirement. Once acquired, ETIAS will be linked to your passport with validity for up to three years or until your passport expires - whichever comes first. If you get a new passport, you need to get a new ETIAS travel authorization.

Question

What will the weather be?

Answer

Edinburgh in December will be cold. Average daily temperatures are 41 degrees F (5 degrees C), with average overnight lows being 36 degrees F (2 degrees C). The wind will make this feel colder. Cloud cover is likely through the entirety of your stay. Rain is frequent but not abundant. Absolutely perfect wedding weather. Fortunately, our ceremony and reception both be inside a single building. A coat check will be available.

Question

What is the best way to get to Edinburgh?

Answer

This depends on where you're flying from - but it's highly likely you'll be coming from a connection in London. Please refer to the Travel page on our website for a more detailed answer to this question.

Question

Do you have a hotel block for guests?

Answer

Yes, we have discounts available at 11 different accommodation options all in the city center. You can find these in the Travel page. Apart from this, we recommend looking at Airbnb, VRBO, or other hotel options that may suit your requirements better - but we recommend staying closer to the city center as transit costs will add up otherwise.

Question

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Answer

Semi-Formal: Tuxes and gowns are welcome, and so are suits and cocktail dresses.

Question

How do we get to the venue?

Answer

Our hotel blocks are all within 0.3 miles from the venue (10min walk maximum). If you choose to stay further away from the venue, feel free to call an Uber. We will not be providing any formal transportation.

Question

Can I bring a +1?

Answer

We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your invitation. If you have any questions, please reach out.

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

Unfortunately, we will not be able to invite children to the wedding due to space constraints.

Question

What type of food and drink will be served during the cocktail hour and reception?

Answer

Our first cocktail hour will include canapes (fancy word for single serve apps) and champagne. Dinner will include a shared starter and a buffet for the main course served with wine. The full menu will be sent out at a later date. There will also be a second cocktail hour to include signature cocktails, wine, beer, and cider/hard seltzer. We will have a dessert buffet, savory buffet, and coffee bar set up later in the evening.

Question

I have dietary restrictions, what's the best way to communicate that with you?

Answer

You may provide any dietary restrictions with your RSVP.

Question

Is your wedding venue wheelchair accessible?

Answer

Yes!

Question

What kind of clothing should I pack?

Answer

It is winter in Edinburgh, so expect cold and some rain. To put it in perspective for our California guests it'll be very cold, for our Chicago guests it'll be kinda chilly. Anywhere indoors will have a heater, so what is most important is how you layer and your footwear. Highly Recommended: A waterproof and wind resistant coat with a hood Waterproof and sturdy shoes suitable for slick and hilly cobblestone roads Optional: Gloves Beanie Waterproof pants You'll want to take layers off once indoors so we recommend under your coat wearing a sweater and a t-shirt or long sleeve top. This will offer you the most flexibility so that you can be comfortable indoors and outdoors.
