Flight
Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is typically the more affordable option for flights; however, it is located approximately one hour from Mapleton, Utah. Alternatively, you may choose to fly into Provo Airport (PVU), which is only about a 20-minute drive from Mapleton, though flights tend to be more expensive and limited in availability.
Travel Note
If you plan to drive: There are many beautiful and family-friendly places to explore along the way or on your return trip. Horseshoe Bend is a short, manageable walk to a stunning overlook—just keep in mind there is a parking fee. If your family hasn’t been to the Grand Canyon, it’s well worth the detour. Though it adds some extra time, the views are unforgettable and there are plenty of easy lookout points for all ages to enjoy. Other great stops include Zion National Park, which offers family-accessible trails and breathtaking scenery. Another stop on the way is Bryce Canyon National Park. If you’re up for a bit of adventure or just want to stretch your legs and take in the beauty of the Southwest, the drive has plenty to offer for all ages!
