People assume that we met in PT school, but we actually met over a year before! We were in the same psychology class and biology lab spring semester of 2015. We gave weekly group presentations in our bio lab. I (Abby) was usually in sweatpants and a hat, but during the last presentation in March, actually wore decent clothes and took my hat off. Riley took notice and did not stop smiling at me the entire presentation (and I turned into a tomato). The next week, I realized this cute boy was also in my psychology class. Riley friend requested me on Facebook (so college) and we immediately started talking. We've been inseparable ever since.
The Kleinheinz Family Christmas is always full of games, and Riley is the favorite DJ. Christmas Eve 2017 was no different, except Riley said he only wanted to host one game. It was a drawing game. Everyone had a paper plate and a pen. We had to close our eyes and draw whatever Riley told us to. He started with a Christmas tree, then a star on top of the tree, then a present under the tree. He ended by telling everyone to draw an engagement ring. I froze and knew what was happening, but wouldn't open my eyes. Finally I heard Riley say open your eyes, and when I did, he was down on one knee. I had always told him I didn't want to get engaged on a holiday, and to this day he defends that Christmas Eve isn't an official holiday. Either way, it ended with the surprise of a lifetime.
