We recommend not missing: 1. Beignets + coffee at Café du Monde 2. A Second Line parade or live brass band 3. St. Charles streetcar ride 4. Frenchmen Street live music at night 5. A classic Creole dinner (Galatoire’s, Antoine’s, Arnaud’s, etc.) We’re so excited to introduce you to one of our favorite cities! New Orleans is full of incredible food, live music, history, and charm, and it’s incredibly easy to enjoy at your own pace. Don’t worry about overplanning; some of the best moments here come from wandering, stumbling into a brass band, or discovering a hidden restaurant or bar. We’ve put together a “Things to Do” page with our favorite spots to help you get started, but the best advice is simple: explore, eat well, and have fun.
As much as we adore your little ones, the Welcome Party and Reception will be an adults-only celebration. That said, children are warmly welcome at the Ceremony and Second Line, so we’re excited to celebrate with them at those events! Please plan accordingly for the welcome party and reception, and if you need childcare assistance, feel free to let Sara know, she’d be happy to share a list of local sitter recommendations.
We recommend arriving at least one day before the wedding events begin so you can settle in, explore the city, and recover from travel. New Orleans is best enjoyed unhurried!
We have hotel room blocks available if you’d like to stay within our group, but there are plenty of great lodging options throughout the city. If you’re considering an Airbnb, most of our wedding events will take place in the French Quarter and Central Business District, so those areas are especially convenient. That said, anywhere in New Orleans is a great choice, each neighborhood has its own charm, and you’ll be close to plenty of amazing food, music, and things to explore.
If you miss the deadline to reserve a room in our block, reach out to the hotel and mention our wedding anyway, they may be able to accommodate you with our discount in a room outside of our block.
The dress code is formal. Please keep in mind that the second line and cocktail hour will be outdoors. New Orleans tends to be warm in late March, so we recommend wearing lightweight long dresses as opposed to heavy ball gowns. We suggest avoiding extremely high heels or bringing a small bag for your second line/dancing shoes! Here is an inspiration board for those who are looking for more information on New Orleans inspired formal attire: https://pin.it/6fiwA2P71
New Orleans is one of the oldest cities in the U.S., and its streets reflect that! Please be aware that you will be walking on these streets in the second line parade. Stiletto heels are not recommended. A chunky or block heel or a wedge would work, but be sure to watch your step! Additionally, if you plan to partake in any Bourbon Street debauchery, fair warning that you may be stepping in a number of . . . substances. Both the bride and groom have ruined shoes on Bourbon Street!
Late March in New Orleans is typically warm and spring-like, with temperatures often ranging from the 60s in the morning/evening to the 70s-80s during the day. We recommend light, breathable fabrics and bringing a light layer for evenings.
There are a few hours between the wedding ceremony and the start of our cocktail hour and reception, we recommend using this time to refresh in your hotel room or to explore the magic of New Orleans.
Yes, most wedding events are located in or near the French Quarter and Central Business District and are easily walkable or a very short rideshare away.
The ceremony will take place indoors, while parts of the celebration (including the second line and cocktail hour) will be outdoors or involve walking between venues.
Please let us know on your RSVP if you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions. Dinner will be served in a classic New Orleans reception style, featuring a variety of food stations with plenty of delicious options to choose from throughout the evening.
We will have an unplugged ceremony, please refrain from taking photos or videos. We have a team of experienced photographers capturing our day, and we will happily share our professional images with you after the wedding!
The night doesn’t have to end there, we encourage you to keep the celebration going in the French Quarter or Frenchmen Street, both just a short ride away!
