How We Met

Social Committee Queen Recruits New Member

Ashley: Chris and I were working in the same office at the time, he in sports and me in entertainment. I had been recruiting members for my newly formed social committee (mama loves a party!). Lucky for him, he joined the committee and his life has never been better!! ;-) Chris: Ashley and I met while working at the same agency in LA. She was on the entertainment side of the business and me on the sports side. After chatting a few times in the kitchen, she mentioned she was forming a social committee for the office and asked if I wanted to join. I figured yeah why not. Probably a great way to meet some girls and throw some parties. What I didn’t realize was that the girls would become singular and I’d actually have to do some work. Her plan worked like a charm and after a few social gatherings (and several bottles of wine), we started dating.

THE PROPOSAL

SEPTEMBER 10, 2019

Chris: While we were vacationing in Greece, we made our way to Santorini on day four. As I know my audience, we started the day doing some early afternoon wine tasting. The place was gorgeous and had a small patio tucked away in the middle of the vineyard. Usually a pretty cool customer, I was on edge the minute we sat down. I started to have a mini panic attack and Ashley started to sense something was up. She kept asking me “Why are you being so weird?” In my defense, I had an uninsured engagement ring in the back pocket of my board shorts and was going to propose. I figured my cover was blown so I held off on the proposal for the time being. After wine tasting, we ended up going back to the hotel to hang out for a bit before dinner. While Ashley was in the shower, I had a pep talk (with myself) and knew it was time to man up. I definitely wanted to propose in Santorini and while the day had gotten away from me, we still had the evening and started to make our way to dinner at Dimitris. Ashley: The walk to dinner was gorgeous! The sun was setting and we had escaped the masses of people as we descended 300 steps to the gorgeous caldera waters. Since Chris had been acting like a crazy person, I had an inkling that an engagement was in the works. I stopped several times to admire the view and (hopefully) help the process. Once we got to the bottom, I decided that I must have been wrong. Chris didn't propose and we were almost to the restaurant. It must not be happening, Chris knows better than to propose in a public setting, he knows that I'm not a fan of public proposals. Boy was I wrong! As soon as the wine was delivered, Chris launched into his heartfelt speech and proudly popped down on one knee...much to the surprise of the large table of young Asian girls who immediately started screeching with joy once I managed to choke out my tearful, YES amidst the entire restaurant bursting into applause!!
