We were first introduced to each other when Unit 5 of Schwitzer (girl's dorm) and Unit 1 of Ross Hall (guy's dorm) had "speed dating" before a campus event that night. Our friend groups at that time met up and we all started hanging out. We became friends and spent more of our time together, such as having dinner together in the dining hall. We loved developing our friendship since neither of us had previously dated anyone. We finally put a label on our relationship in December that year, and it has been a whirlwind since. Going to pharmacy school together, we have been blessed to see each other grow throughout the last 5 years.

After 5 years of being together and approaching the end of their time at Butler, Matt knew it was time that he wanted to ask to spend the rest of his life with Lauren. After gaining approval from Lauren's father over a round of golf, he immediately set off to work to make the proposal special. Matt created a photo album of their 5 years together, and gifted it to her while they walked through White River State Park. After going through the pictures, Matt asked Lauren to marry him. Following the proposal, they had dinner at The Eagle Restaurant - which was the same place where Lauren's mother and father got engaged (by complete coincidence!).
