A Charleston staple since the 1800s! Spanning four city blocks, The City Market is the place to go for local crafts, food, souvenirs and the world-famous Sweetgrass baskets. It’s a great spot for a scenic walk and some light shopping between wedding festivities.
A Charleston staple with a view that can’t be beat. Located in a historic, castle-like building overlooking the river, this was where we had our first date! It’s a perfect place for sunset drinks or a waterfront dinner while you’re in town. You might want to call ahead for a reservation or try to go a little before sunset to catch the best colors over the water!
Looking for a beach day? Folly Beach is the closest spot to the city. It’s got a great mix of chill beach vibes and lively restaurants. We recommend getting there early to snag a parking spot and staying for a sunset walk on the pier.
For a true taste of Charleston charm, head to Magnolia Plantation. You can wander the flower filled garden paths, explore the Audubon Swamp boardwalk (keep an eye out for alligators), or visit the petting zoo and peacocks. Spend a few hours soaking up the history and scenery that makes this city so special.
If you want to eat like a true Charleston local, you have to go to Bertha’s Kitchen. This family-run restaurant won a James Beard Award for its delicious food. Don't let the its appearance fool you, hop in line for some of the best Gullah-Geechee soul food in the world. Their fried chicken, okra soup, and lima beans are legendary—just be prepared for a line, because it’s that good!
Wonderful desserts and treats, with the added benefit of grabbing a tasty cocktail while there. Be prepared to wait in line this a well known spot downtown!
