Flight
The island of Crete has 2 major airports. Heraklion International Airport (HER): This is the closest airport to our venue and the Village Heights Resort—about a 30-minute drive. It’s the most convenient option for most guests. Chania International Airport (CHQ): Located on the western side of Crete, about 2.5 to 3 hours from the resort by car. This airport is another option if you find better flights or want to explore the western part of the island before or after the wedding.

Travel Note
PASSPORT: Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months after your trip. If you don’t have one, or it’s expiring soon, apply for or renew it as early as possible. TRAVEL INSURANCE: It’s a good idea to get travel insurance to cover health emergencies, trip cancellations, or lost luggage. CURRENCY: Greece uses the Euro (€). Consider ordering some Euros before you go or plan to withdraw cash at the airport or local ATMs. **Pro Tip: Know the current conversion rate (you can do a quick google search). This helps you be informed and know how much to expect to receive back, so you can avoid surprises. ADAPTERS: Greece uses Type C and F plugs (230V). Bring a plug adapter for your electronics. DOCUMENTS: Bring a copy of your passport, travel insurance, and any booking confirmations—keep digital copies too. AIRPORT ARRIVAL: Plan to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before your international flight. TIME ZONE: Greece is 7 hours ahead of Eastern Time (ET), so prepare for jet lag. DOWNLOAD MAPS BEFORE YOU GO: Download your maps ahead of time so you can use GPS without Wi-Fi or data if necessary. How to do it in Google Maps: *Open Google Maps App on your phone. *Search for the city or area - can zoom out as needed to download an entire route. *Tap your profile icon (top right) > Offline maps > Select your own map. *Adjust the area and tap Download. Now, even if you lose service or don’t have a data plan, your phone’s GPS will still work, and you can find your way!
