Long, long before San Diego was colonized by the Spanish and developed into the city we recognize today, this region has been home to the Kumeyaay people. They have stewarded the land and waterways here for a vast stretch of time spanning over 10,000 years. While you're here, we highly encourage you to learn more about the history of the Kumeyaay in San Diego and check out the rich culture that they have preserved for generations.
The Prado at Balboa Park is a beautiful natural scene accompanied by exquisite Old World Spanish architecture. It also holds many top-tier museums, a Japanese garden, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo! We come to this park so often - it means a lot to us and we absolutely recommend checking it out.
Take advantage of your proximity to some of the best wine California has to offer. Book a wine tour or just wander and see where you end up!
If you're coming from out of town, which we know most of you are (thanks!) then you are definitely going to want to check out one of San Diego's amazing beaches. We try to go to the beach at least once a week during the summer. The waves are big, the breeze is cool, and the sun is shining. Be sure to bring SPF and lots of water, and have fun! This beach is only a short drive from our wedding festivities.
Making your trip out here a family vacation? We are only a short distance away from this fun amusement park!
One of the coolest features of the San Diego Zoo is only a quick drive from our wedding location! While the Safari Park has fewer animals than the main zoo, the up-close "safari" experience is unbeatable.
This sleepy little Old West town gives a great impression of San Diego County before all the development that we see today. Adorned with beautiful buildings and terrific businesses, this place has something for everyone. Want to get a souvenir while here? Check out one of the many antique shops. Fancy a drink? Temecula has some of the best wine in California (eat your heart out Napa)!
Our favorite of the San Diego Beach towns, OB has a unique, hippy vibe that reminds us of Colorado. Come for the beach and check out the music, art, and quirky character while you're there. Breweries to check out while you're in the neighborhood: California Wild Ales and Pizza Port
You can't take a trip to San Diego without stopping for fresh seafood! Mitch's has some of the best at a reasonable price and with a spectacular view of the San Diego Bay to boot.
Menya is absolutely the best Ramen we have ever had! We are lucky enough to live in one of the only places outside of Japan to get ramen this good. If you like noodles and Japanese cuisine in general, this ramen house has our official seal of approval. Get a reservation though, they have a long wait once they open.
For those of you who like a mountain getaway and aren't averse to a little drive, we highly recommend a day trip to the old mining town of Julian, if only for the amazing pies. Now, to be fair, you can find these pies at several stores around San Diego, but we have found that nothing quite compares to a fresh slice from the original location. Get there early, though, as they do sell out. Also, take your time while in Julian, there is a lot to see and do!
This brewery is not far from our venue, has a varied selection of beers, and is owned and operated by the Rincon Band of the LuiseƱo Indians.
San Diego's first Latinx women-founded and women-led community brewing space, educational facility, and taproom dedicated to empowering people of all backgrounds, specifically focusing on women of color in the craft beer industry.
While you are down in Chula Vista, it is also worthwhile to stop at Tacos El Gordo for some authentic Mexican street tacos. Order them to-go and eat them at the brewery!
San Diego is well-known for its craft beer scene. Aside from the smaller locations we have listed previously, here are some of the "big names" people tend to want to check out while they're here: Stone Brewery Ballast Point Brewing Karl Strauss Brewing Company AleSmith Brewing Company
