We're saying I Do!

We met at a bonfire in Ashley’s backyard in Edgewater, Colorado. After a night of lively political discussion, Tom came back to the house the next day to crash Ashley and her roommates’ ladies night at the Grizzly Rose, a popular country bar in Denver. A few dances, one mechanical bull ride, and plenty of conversation ensued, and it was clear something special was happening. We went on our first date - karaoke - a few weeks later. Nearly four years in, we’re best friends, true loves, and still each other’s favorite partners in conversation, adventure, and life.

Since Tom would be away on deployment for their two-year anniversary, Ashley suggested they celebrate it a month early. Little did she know that Tom had marked that very date on the calendar several weeks before as the day he would propose! He was able to leave work a couple hours early, and intended to surprise Ashley with flowers and a note set up at their house for her to walk in on, while he waited in the backyard with the ring. Hidden on the front porch, he patiently waited for Ashley to move to a room where she wouldn't see him sneaking in to set everything up. Ashley went into the kitchen and Tom made his move. Unfortunately for him, Ashley did hear the front door, but by the time she got to the living room, no one was in sight. Convincing herself that it must have been the neighbor's door, but still on edge, she walked back into the office to continue working and nearly had a heart attack as she walked in on Tom, still in the middle of setting everything up! After several deep breaths and laughs, Tom just rolled with the situation and proposed right there!
