The night of Anderson University's Homecoming Dance. Andrew and Shelbie danced the night away. At the end of the night, Andrew walked Shelbie back to Stringer C and hugged her goodbye. He didn't want to let her go, so he leaned in for a kiss. They parted ways for all of a few minutes before Shelbie ran out to his car for one more hug and kiss. It's a good thing. It gave Andrew the chance to ask "So does this mean you will finally be my girlfriend?" Here they are about 4ish years later. They've been through many ups and downs, but Andrew and Shelbie always found their way back to each other through it all. Their story might not be perfect, but their love is real.
In the midst of a global pandemic, Andrew decided that he was ready to take Shelbie as his bride. He spent months planning and designing the perfect engagement ring for Shelbie - a beautiful oval diamond with a teardrop on either side. Andrew finalized the engagement ring and was in the middle of formulating a plan to propose to Shelbie when she was furloughed from her job and tested positive for COVID-19. She was devastated and feared that the struggles they were facing would strain their relationship, so Andrew felt a great sense of urgency to propose all the sooner. First, Andrew set up a secret lunch with Shelbie's parents to ask them for her hand. They heartily gave their consent seeing how much his love for Shelbie had matured. He then enlisted the help of a mutual friend, Jessica Wright, to capture the moment and decided that Pretty Place would be the perfect spot. The morning of, Shelbie dragged her feet and came up with every excuse to postpone their "hike". It was early. It was cloudy. There was no time for breakfast. Finally, Jessica and Andrew managed to get Shelbie in the car. The group arrived at Pretty Place about 15 minutes before the chapel was to close. Jess started snapping a couple photos and then switched to video to catch the whole proposal. Andrew turned to Shelbie, taking both her hands in his. "I know these are uncertain times, but I want you to know my love for you is sure. Will you marry me?" He said as he dropped to one knee. Shelbie exclaimed "Awww, yes."
