The Friendship

August 2019-2021

David and Kennedy both grew up in Gainesville, Florida. The Price family attended Campus Church of Christ for many years before transitioning to Greenhouse Church in 2018. It was there that they became deeply involved in the youth group—and where David Schmidt entered the story. The Schmidt family had long been part of Greenhouse Church and were well rooted in the community. From the very beginning, David had a quiet crush on Kennedy. Throughout middle and high school, their lives naturally overlapped—Wednesday nights at youth group, church camps and retreats, and serving side by side in kids ministry and youth. Over time, they became part of a close-knit group of friends within the youth ministry. As their friendship grew, so did their connection, and two years later, David invited Kennedy to celebrate his 15th birthday—marking one of the first moments their story began to take shape.

The Dance

April 17, 2021

Kennedy attended David’s birthday celebration as a friend, surrounded by their usual group—dancing and laughing the night away like always. At one point, when someone asked about Kennedy, David leaned over and quietly told his uncle, “That’s the girl,” pointing to her across the room. Moments later, his uncle cleared the dance floor, made an announcement, and invited David to take Kennedy’s hand. The two then shared their unforgettable first dance to “Thinking Out Loud.”

The Journey

April 2021-August 2023

From that point forward, the two were completely lovestruck. Although they didn’t attend the same high school, they spent every chance they could talking on the phone, thinking about one another, and convincing parents and older siblings to drive them so they could spend time together. David remained focused on excelling as a wide receiver in football, working hard in school, and staying deeply involved in youth group. Kennedy poured her time into soccer and lacrosse, her academics, and youth group as well. They made countless memories together on family trips to Sanibel Island, Hammock Beach, Park City, Utah, and Hilton Head Island. What they both loved most was how they challenged each other—to grow as athletes, students, children, siblings, friends, and ultimately as followers of Christ—and that has never changed. Over the years, they continued to grow closer—not only to each other, but also to their families and to the Lord.

Senior Year

August 2023-May 2024

After finally attending the same school their senior year at Newberry High School, David and Kennedy became inseparable. They were both involved in FCA, made homecoming court, walked to nearly every class together, and served as captains of their sports teams. David was pursuing his goal of playing Division I football at the University of Florida—quickly becoming a bit of a hometown hero along the way—while Kennedy remained dedicated to soccer, lacrosse, and her academics. On December 5, 2023, David received his official offer from the University of Florida. From that moment on, David began training for the next chapter, while Kennedy started planning her game day outfits—life was about to change!

New Schools, New Beginnings

May 2024-March 2026

David attends the University of Florida, where he is majoring in Construction Management and was a member of the football team. Kennedy completed her degree in Digital Marketing at Santa Fe College. The years 2024 and 2025 were some of the busiest and most meaningful seasons of their lives. With David balancing 60-hour weeks during football season, Kennedy working long hours, and both serving on the leadership team for FCA, they learned to cherish the small pockets of time they had together—which quickly became the most special parts of their week. In 2025, David stepped away from football to focus on working in construction and finishing his degree, while Kennedy began her career in the marketing field.

The Proposal

March 3, 2026

On March 3rd, 2026, David asked the most important question: “Will you marry me?” After five years of dating and countless prayers leading up to that moment, Kennedy was overjoyed to say yes. David had thoughtfully planned every detail—somehow getting her into her dream dress, pulling off the surprise perfectly, and gathering all of their closest friends and family to celebrate afterward. It was a day that truly felt like a glimpse of Heaven.

The Start of Forever

March 2026-Present

David and Kennedy are overjoyed to begin their life and ministry together. David plans to continue his work in construction, with hopes of one day owning his own company, while Kennedy plans to grow in the marketing field, with a heart toward creative work in ministry. For now, they will remain in Gainesville, cherishing this season—unless or until the Lord calls them somewhere new to continue building their family and future. They feel incredibly expectant and humbled to create a life together: one defined by generosity, love, vision, mission, forgiveness, and a deep desire to honor the Lord in all they do.
