Daniel and Lindsay first noticed each other when they joined the same work team. Daniel looked great in black and had an air of mystery and depth about him. Lindsay was intentional, witty, and engaging - and could actually keep up with Daniel's long external processing about foreign policy, history, and politics. It started with working together at their friend's kitchen table, then talking during breaks. But soon work break conversations weren't enough, and they would talk for hours in the living room. And hang out on their days off. And look for pretty much any excuse to sit next to each other and get totally wrapped up in conversation. A few months later, they both knew it was much more than friendship and they were really just kidding themselves. So Daniel bought roses, and asked Lindsay if she would go out with him. She was shocked, but said yes to the first date, and the second, and the third...and all the dates after that, too :)
On Easter Sunday, Daniel picked Lindsay up at 7am. His note to her the night before read: "Lindsay, since we had to miss date night this week, I thought we could make it up by going to the mountains together tomorrow morning. Dress nicely for the first half of the day, and then bring clothes for hiking." Needless to say, as Lindsay got dressed that morning, she had an inkling of what was coming. As she got in the car, they both giggled like school kids, giddy and joyful at what the day would hold. They ate breakfast together at a hotel overlooking the valley and mountain range, and afterwards went on a "walk around the grounds" (this is what Daniel said, trying to conceal his real plan from Lindsay). Daniel took Lindsay up to a scenic overlook of the entire valley, told her all the things he loved about her, and got down on one knee. They both cried, and she said yes!
