Richmond's jewel. You will not find another city in the US with a park system like ours. The James River Park System extends east and west through the city, but this is the best place to begin your exploration.
Walking trail along the North Bank of the river, easily accessible from most of our suggested hotels. If you're feeling adventurous, connect to Buttermilk Trail via the Belle Isle Bridge and Nickel Bridge to extend to a 6 mile loop. A pedestrian only bridge with great views along the James River. Another option to extend your Belle Isle or North Bank exploration. Stop by Waterfront RVA at the Tredegar boat ramp and say hello to whoever is working while Ben takes the weekend off ;)
This park accesses the James River Park System, blocks from our house. Our go to spot for mountain biking and trail running. Check out the 5k trail loop or walk around the lake.

Over the last decade, Richmond has developed a huge microbrewery scene. This is the OG microbrewery that overlooks the James River.
Our favorite neighborhood brewery with nationally renowned beer. The original location is in Scott's Addition if that is closer to where you are staying.
