Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Preston Slaughter and Benjamin Moore
The James River is what brings all Richmonders together. We hope you get the chance to explore the waterway that creates the community we call home. We categorized our recommendations to make your weekend enjoyable and accessible. The first 4 are your weekend party locations, followed by 4 standout urban natural settings, 2 cultural opportunities, 3 brunch spots, and a handful of our favorite local restaurants. If you like to walk, almost everything is walkable from our suggested hotels, and rideshares are easily available.

Sharps Island

Richmond, VA 23219

This is where your weekend adventure starts.

1816 Hanover Ave

1816 Hanover Avenue, Richmond, VA 23220

Welcome to the main event. Bring your dancing shoes, your appetite and maybe even your swimsuit.

The Broadberry

2729 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23220

Your Saturday night continues a couple blocks away with more drinks and dancing for the late night crowd.

4408 Stonewall Ave

4408 Stonewall Avenue, Richmond, VA 23225

Wake up, sleepyhead! Stop by for brunch at our house before you leave town.

Belle Isle

Richmond, VA

Richmond's jewel. You will not find another city in the US with a park system like ours. The James River Park System extends east and west through the city, but this is the best place to begin your exploration.

North Bank Trail

North Bank Trail, Richmond, VA 23220

Walking trail along the North Bank of the river, easily accessible from most of our suggested hotels. If you're feeling adventurous, connect to Buttermilk Trail via the Belle Isle Bridge and Nickel Bridge to extend to a 6 mile loop. Check out the "James River North Bank and Buttermilk Loop Trail" on AllTrails.

T Tyler Potterfield Memorial Bridge

T Tyler Potterfield Memorial Bridge, Richmond, VA

A pedestrian only bridge with great views along the James River. Another option to extend your Belle Isle or North Bank exploration. Stop by Waterfront RVA at the Tredegar boat ramp and say hello to whoever is working while Ben takes the weekend off ;)

Forest Hill Park

4021 Forest Hill Avenue, Richmond, VA 23225

This park accesses the James River Park System, blocks from our house. Our go to spot for mountain biking and trail running. Check out the 5k trail loop or walk around the lake.

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

200 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220

If your first experience in a new city typically involves an art museum, don't skip out on this one.

The OG Southside coffee hangout spot.
