Everyone attending the wedding is a member of our family or a very close friend. We are also honored guests in the home of Ruth Fortney and Will Akins, and we want to make it safe for everyone. If you have not been vaccinated and boosted, please test for Covid within 48 hours of the wedding day.
Springtime, garden party attire is encouraged (dresses, slacks, jumpsuits, button-down shirts, khakis), as well as any traditional clothing. Bring a shawl or sweater for the evenings, as the lakeside can get chilly, and bring your dancing shoes for the dabke!
Please park anywhere in the neighborhood, plenty of street parking is available.
Please let us know if there are any food allergies we should know about when RSVPing. Food will be buffet-style, and we will have vegetarian and some gluten-free options available during the meal. The caterer is aware of the severe nut allergies present in the Thomas family. Desserts will be homemade, and any desserts containing nuts will be clearly labeled.
Dabke is a Levantine folk dance that combines circle dance and line dancing, and is widely performed at weddings and other joyous occasions. To learn more, here's a helpful video on the dabke's basic steps (watch until around 5:45), otherwise just follow along with the bride, groom, and bride's family, who will initiate the dance!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Af3lTu5zNh0
