Dear friends,
Thanks for your wishes on this special occasion and we really appreciate your presence on our wedding day! It really means a lot to both of us! We wanted this celebration of our partnership to be marked by not just fun, frolic and happiness but also a sense of purpose. A wedding fundraiser towards causes we both believe in is our attempt at finding that purpose.
It hit upon us on how fortunate we were to have been blessed with a wonderful family, a fulfilling childhood and quality education that has made us the people we are today. We wanted to do our part in enabling a brighter future to kids who don’t have the same opportunities. To this end, we have started a support campaign for Sivananda Saraswathi Sevashram and Asha for Education.
Sivananda Gurukalam
Sivananda Saraswathi Sevashram provides a loving home and support for orphaned kids and elderly that have been neglected by their family. They provide basic amenities, as well as education and healthcare for their residents.
Asha for Education (Project Sangamam)
Asha for Education is a secular organization dedicated to change in India by focusing on basic education in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change. We are specifically fundraising for the two closely related projects detailed below.
Project Sangamam (Project Union) - Asha Chennai is working to improve the conditions and infrastructure at several government primary schools and Balwadis (nurseries/creches) in Thiruvallur district. This is accomplished by providing teachers where they are insufficient, computer literacy and minor repairs where the situation warrants.
Asha for Education (Project Sugadharam)
Project Sugadharam (Project Cleanliness) - Operating in the same schools as above, this project has a specific focus on providing adequate toilet facilities to the students. This goes towards repairing existing toilets as well as constructing new ones where there are none.
