Our Story

Here is a look into our love story and how it has unfolded...
Once upon a time a beautiful princess spent her weekends working in a castle, when one day an unsuspecting goofball came to have dinner. Little did they know they'd find the love of their life there.

They had their first date the following weekend, back where it all began - Disney World. Carli found Devon waiting with a single flower in hand. They spent a day in the park getting acquainted.

First trip together - New York, December. This is where they shared their first kiss, under the Rockefeller Tree on the skating rink. Devon held up a wishing star and asked, "Do these work on kisses?"

The new year started off memorably. Devon told Carli he mailed her two packages. The first one arrived and soon after she got a call about the other - Surprise! Devon visiting was the 2nd "delivery".

Hold it! If Carli was going to date someone, then her best friend Sarah would have to sign off on him. So in January, Devon and Carli fly to Seattle to get vetted by the bestie. Luckily, he passed!

Carli goes to Belize with her family in February, so Devon & Carli see each other in March. Carli's friend Olivia visits Florida with her boyfriend Bobby and the four of them visit Disney World.

They take their first roadtrip together to El Paso, where they see the sights and enjoy the downtown. Riverwalks, city scooters, boat rides, and flea markets made for great stories.

Thus began their back-and-forth flying to Orlando or Dallas to spend the weekend together. They would find things to do like line-dancing, tulip fields, blueberry picking, and other fun events.

Broadway and surprises became a common thing for these two, as Devon surprised Carli with tickets to Hamilton. This was their third play: Dear Evan Hansen in NY, Phantom in Dallas, and now this!

Dating is a team game and so they put their teamwork to the test by training for an obstacle race called Spartan. Devon finished in the top 10% of males, while Carli finished top 10 females to run it!

Devon, Carli and Sarah decided to start coordinating visits and Sarah's love for baseball became a group experience as the three of them attended both a Houston and Arlington MLB game.

Now it was Carli's turn to meet the family in a trip to Virginia, where she was introduced to both sides of Devon's family. They loved her of course and while they were in town the two saw D.C.

Travel has been a huge part of their relationship. They made a point to visit all sorts of places on the weekend they saw one another. From Arkansas, to Montana, to the Great Sand Dunes of Colorado.

Carli surprises Devon for his birthday with a trip to the Grand Canyon. Devon got to climb everything and Carli made him breakfast and sang him the traditional Swedish birthday song.

For Carli's birthday Devon met her in her hometown - Portland, OR. They had a big party for her and surprised Devon with a "Welcome to the Family" party. Carli also took Devon dancing at Bushwackers.

Back at Valentines, Devon surprised Carli with tickets to Australia. They spent the year planning a two week trip they finally got to take.

This trip was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that they certainly made the most of! They snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef, drove on the opposite side of the road, and saw all the notable wildlife.

Everyone thought this was the trip Devon would propose. They weren't wrong! Only Devon popped the question on the layover after a surprise LA scavenger hunt where her family and best friend showed up!

Within two weeks, Carli was on a plane to Shanghai where her career dreams came true - working for Disney in a foreign country. Long distance became really long distance but they made it work.

After months apart they take the plunge and Devon packs up to move to Shanghai to support Carli. Only, the day Devon packs up, she must return due to COVID. So moving to China became moving to FL.

Early 2020 they head to D.C. with Carli's parents to see their future wedding venue, but again the virus cuts into their plans and the four of them return quickly to Florida and wait out the year.

The rest of 2020 wasn't what any of us expected it to be, yet Carli and Devon made the best of it. Carli is back at WDW & they patiently await their big day 4/3/21 and look forward to tying the knot!
