Travel Information - Ferry

Ferry To get to Bainbridge Island from Seattle you will need to take the Washington State Ferry Seattle / Bainbridge route. The terminal is located downtown in Pioneer Square. We anticipate the new terminal will be open by the time you arrive in August, at which point it will be very easy to navigate. We'll update the website with more information as the date nears. Sailing time is approximately 35 minutes. Boats leave approximately every hour however the schedule can be found at the link provided. It is likely the galley will be open on your trip, serving food and drinks. Walking On For those of you not renting or driving a car over to the Island, you will walk on the ferry via the terminal. The fare is $9.40 adult / $4.70 senior / free 18 & under. You can purchase a ticket via a teller at a booth or a machine. There is no fare traveling from Bainbridge Island to Seattle. Driving On For those of you driving to the Island, you will follow signs (and use google maps) to navigate the queuing. The fare is $21.40 for driver + vehicle, with additional passenger fare the same as walk ons noted above. Fare traveling from Bainbridge Island to Seattle is $21.40 regardless of passengers.

Travel Information - Arriving at Seatac Airport

Renting a car If renting a car and driving from Seatac Airport, you do have the option to skip Seattle and the ferry and "drive around". There is a bridge on the north end of the Island connecting us to the Kitsap Peninsula. The drive is approx. 85 miles and will take 90 minutes without traffic. Getting to Seattle / Bainbridge Island without a car If you plan to travel without renting a car, here's what that would look like. Arriving at Seatac Airport, you have the option of taking a taxi or public transportation light rail train to Seattle. A taxi will take approx. 25 minutes and cost $40 + tip. We recommend getting in the taxi line at the airport rather than using a ride share app because it's much faster and may also be less expensive due to the flat rate to downtown. If taking public transportation, follow the signs to the light rail (5-10 minute walk), buy a ticket from the machine (~$4 per person), and hop on (approx. 45 minute ride). Exit at Pioneer Square station, unless you a headed somewhere else in Seattle. From there, walk 10 minutes to the ferry terminal (using google maps). You do not need a car to get around Seattle and if you are staying close to the ferry terminal on the Island side, you also can get around Winslow (Bainbridge's "downtown") without a car.
