Rent a car that has either a removable roof or is a convertible. You'll want to get something more compact so that you can fit easier into their smaller parking spots and narrow highway roads.
The most beautiful calm beach with the softest sand ever! The water is clear and great for snorkeling; you'll see some reefs, sea turtles, and tropical fish! This is a great beach for the kids because the waves are so calm & the water is easy to swim in.
Hike up to the pillboxes that were built during World War II as lookout points to defend the Hawaiian Islands. You'll be able to see the 360 degree amazing views of the ocean and the mountains. This hike is not recommended for kids or anyone that has knee, hip, etc problems. You will slip and potentially fall (we did many times). If you do the hike we recommend good shoes!! You're literally climbing a mountain and there is no path. (Worth it in the end and its an awesome workout... your legs will be sore)
Depending on the tide, you can jump in and swim in a magical looking caves (maybe you'll see a mermaid or maybe its just Tony frolicking through the water).
The name of the restaurant says it all. Walkable from Alohilani hotel and right on the strip of Waikiki Beach.
This is one of the only waterfalls you can swim under on Oahu. Due to bacteria levels, it is not safe to swim in many of the waterfalls. If you're looking for one to swim under & jump in from the cliffs, this is the one to go to. About 1.5 mile hike. (Lost was filmed here)
We got breakfast burrito's here and they were SO GOOD. It is one of the top places on the island to go for Kalua Pork. Bonus points for this place because it is close to Lanakai Beach and has some super cute boutiques right next door.
Inside a sketchy looking corner store in Kailua. Order the steak plate; you can choose to have salad or extra rice (we recommend the extra rice). The portions are huge and the flavor is the BEST. Couldn't find anywhere else that had better steak and rice than this place.
A good visit for those who are interested in what happened at Pearl Harbor. About a 45 minute drive from Waikiki. This is close to electric beach that you can go to after. Because the electricity from the Chocolate Factory runs through the ocean, the water is warmer and abundant with sea life! (Grab your snorkels!)
You can't go to Hawaii without getting some classic Shaved Ice. This is not your usual Wisconsin State Fair shaved ice. This shit is GOOOD.
