Our Matrimony Homies

Meet our favorite people.

Danielle Umali

Matron of Honor

I met Patris when I was 3 months old - "We're practically like sisters! She was a lovely girl". We've bonded over NSYNC and Dreamstreet, laughed about people that aren't even relevant to our current adult life (looking at you Corey Davis), and cried together over so many things in our 34 years of friendship. We've grown up distantly from each other as babies, to only a few streets down as teens, to half the state away as adults. But no matter the physical distance, we never grew apart. When we get together, it's like having my best friend living right next to me again. I'm so proud of the beautiful, inspiring and amazing human being that she has become and I'm so lucky to have her not only as my best friend, but also as my family. Seeing her join a perfect partnership with Justin in marriage makes me realize -- we're getting old, man. But there's no one I'd rather grow old with than these two in my life. ♡

Khaena Araneta

Bridesmate

Hi, my name is Khaena and I met Patris when I was… born! My dad is her mom’s uncle. Technically I am her Tita, but since we are so close in age we call each other cousins. Patris was always my favorite person to see during family parties. We recited all the lines of School of Rock and Princess Diaries together, made silly videos, and prank called crushes. Now, I look forward to the random catch ups we have and seeing how far she’s come in life. She was once a caterpillar and is now a beautiful butterfly... spreading her wings into marriage!!

You know that one friend who feels like your long-lost twin the second you meet? That’s Andrea for me. From day one, we’ve been navigating life together—teenage crises, fashion emergencies, boy drama, and yes, even the occasional, literal stepping in dog poop (because nothing says friendship like laughing through life’s messes). No matter what we stumbled into—whether it was unexpected life challenges or, well, something we’d rather not step in—Andrea and I always managed to come out of it stronger and laughing. Seeing Andrea grow into the incredible person she is today fills me with so much pride. She’s smart, kind, and always knows how to handle whatever life throws her way. So, it’s no surprise that she found Justin—someone who’s just as amazing, and probably equally good at sidestepping the unexpected! Together, they’re a perfect match, navigating love and life with a bond that’s unshakable. And yes, I might have had a hand in making their love story happen (you’re welcome). It’s been such a joy watching them build their happily ever after—one that I’m sure will include a lot of laughter, love, and maybe a few more “oops” moments along the way. Because that’s life, right? You step into the unexpected, and if you're lucky, you have someone like Andrea (and now Justin) to laugh with and keep moving forward. Here's to their forever!

Kris Domingo

Bridesmate

Kris and Andrea used to be housemates, and before that, they met during PACE internship at SFSU in 2010. They have bonded over eczema, Beyonce, nights out in the Castro, and that one dragon show. Kris knows Justin too. He’s chill.

One of my most memorable moments with Drea was in college when we had some friends over at our apartment. We all gathered in the living room and suddenly, out of nowhere, an egg came flying through our space, soaring in the air, and then cracked on the floor. We were stunned and couldn't believe this happened! It suddenly hit us— someone had thrown the egg from outside, all the way up to our apartment on the eighth floor! The hysterical laughter erupted soon after, while Drea shouted, "THEY EGGED US!!!" Later that night, while we were passing out food from our Jollibee order, Drea accidentally got hit in the face with a Little Big Bite. The look on her face had me doubled over in laughter. That night was pure comedy, and it’s one of those moments with Drea (and friends) that I'll never forget.

Justine Defendez

Bridesmate

Justine and her wife Babs live in a cute little apartment next to Lake Merritt in Oakland. Justine met Patty in YFC when she was a lonely newcomer to the Bay. Over a decade of friendship later, they’ve developed a bond filled with both mutual annoyance and deep love, as only close friends can.

Angelica Faustino

Bridesmate

I met Drea during our undergrad years at San Francisco State University, and from the start, I knew we had a special connection. Our bond deepened through our time teaching with Pin@y Educational Partnerships, where we shared countless memorable experiences and supported each other’s growth. Drea is not just my closest friend; she’s my twin flame. I’m so excited to celebrate her and Justin as they embark on this beautiful journey together!

Mary Le

Bridesmate

Hi there! Mary here! I can't believe it's been 13 years since I met Drea at SF State! Through all the girl talk, the fun trips, the Scorpio bdays, and all of life's milestones together, Drea has always filled my life with so much warmth and love <3 & I can't wait to celebrate the most beautiful and longest love story I've ever known (':

Kevin Santos

Best Brother

My favorite memory of Justin: Driving west on Highway 152 from Bakersfield to San Francisco during the last weekend before starting college at SFSU in 2009, the sun had just set when it quietly dawned on us that we moved our lives to the Bay Area, and a new chapter was beginning to unfold.

Khanh Nguyen

Co-Best Man

If there’s one thing about my relationship with Justin, it’s that he’ll never let me win. One time, I introduced him to the show “Baby Daddy” and asked what he thought. He looked at me and said, “It’s alright, not really my thing.” A few days later, I walk in and catch him at his desk, sneaking glances at the show like he was trying to hide something. The look on his face? Like a dude that’s just been caught red handed. We busted out laughing and it’s been our inside joke ever since.

Lucas Chang

Co-Best Man

Hi everyone, my name is Lucas and I’m lucky enough to call myself one of Justin’s best men. I went to SF state with Justin playing basketball, but truly grew closer as friends in the years after college. We have shared countless core memories since - from being young, dumb and partying to sharing a bubble together during COVID to going on many group vacations to now being each other’s best men. I am incredibly honored to be a part of Justin and Andrea’s big day and can’t wait to make it an unforgettable one celebrating them!

Andy Del Valle

Groomsman

My favorite era of Justin: Emo Justin. Hair in his face, wearing skinny jeans, and playing all his favorite emo and simp songs on the guitar (he had all the girls swooning). He wasn’t really emo though because he was always joking and made every one around him feel welcomed. I’m proud of the man he’s become and even more proud of the way he treats Andrea with love and respect. It’s an absolute honor to be a part of their big day.

Alice Pyun

Groomswoman

Since ‘06! I never could have imagined that a lifelong friendship would have started from 10th grade Spanish class, but here we are. So excited to celebrate with the bride and groom!!!

Jeff Sunada

been dancing through life with justin since 2009

Jerome Matawaran

Groomsman

Hello I’ve known justin for longer than I would like, but I guess he’s pretty chill. One of my favorite memories with this guy has to be when we beat his team in a 3v3 basketball tournament when our good friend Tony hit a fadeaway jumper over Justin to win the championship game. Seeing justin walk off into the sunset after that, was a feeling I would hold onto forever. I love you brotha.

Mark Arakaki

Groomsman

Favorite memory with Justin: Winning the UCSF basketball league. I connect this memory with Justin as he was the heart and core of the team, building it with close friends that were made throughout college and beyond. At one point, most of our team had played against each other throughout college, so to have everyone play together and win made it a core memory.
