We will be staying in Lorcan's hometown of Ratoath. We highly encourage our out-of-town guests to book a hotel close-by so we can see you as much as possible!
Ratoath is about 30 minutes from Dublin's city center via car, but can sometimes take up to an hour if traffic is heavy. Buses are also available from Ratoath directly into town. Perfect if you want to squeeze in a day (or two!) of sightseeing.
Yes, particularly if you want to travel around and sightsee during your visit. Like we mentioned, rental cars are easily accessible at Dublin Airport. Carpool with others if you can to split the cost. And remember - manual transmissions are the norm here, so make sure to ask for automatic if needed. Perhaps most importantly, you drive on the LEFT side of the road and the RIGHT side of the car. Lastly, the Irish love their roundabouts (rotaries) so be prepared to drive in a lot of circles.
2019 question of the year. Long story short - Ireland will be cold and damp. Bring a good winter coat and plenty of layers. Snow is becoming more and more unpredictable but shouldn't be an issue in early January (fingers crossed). If you have any serious wardrobe-related concerns and are losing sleep at night, shoot us a note :)
