We met one day on the dating app, Bumble. In a world of "ghosting" we were both happy the other responded and kept responding. We chatted for three weeks before a plan for a first date was made. Evan came to pick Liz up at her cabin at Fair Hills. For those that know the Fair Hills bunkhouse, it's a surprise he continued down the dark backroad past the garbage containers and random sheds and actually knocked on the door. After the nerves wore off, we talked all night about anything and everything. Despite the date going well, we both weren't sure if we would see each other again. We had both been on many first dates and we're ghosted right after, so our hopes were not very high. Thankfully someone reached out and it didn't take long before a second date was set up...and many many more after that!
Many dates later (and maybe a few hints from Liz) and Evan was ready to propose. Evan secretly bought the perfect ring, with no help from Liz and without Liz finding out. He drove out to the resort to talk to Liz's parents, also without Liz finding out. A trip to Itasca State Park and a bike ride to the headwaters of the Mississippi River had Evan nervous and Liz just happy to be outside enjoying nature. We found a tree along the way and Evan carved our initials in the tree and next thing Liz turned around to see Evan on his knee proposing!
