"The Farm" as it is affectionately called, has played a very special part in our love story. It holds many amazing memories for us from our time here as teenagers, through our college years, and into adulthood (including our engagement on the dock!). It is the most perfect place for us to say our vows, and we are so excited to share it with all of you. This property has been in the family for over 3 generations. The farm was purchased by Doug Fonda in 1937 as a gentlemen’s farm. Doug was married to Katie's great grandmother, Kathryn Appleyard’s (her namesakes) sister, Verna. The original property, which extended through the RV resort next door, included a barn, milkhouse, farmhouse, and an airplane hangar. Doug and Verna experimented with growing various crops at the farm and at one point even raised some cattle! While it has not had crops, livestock, or airplane landings for a long time, The Farm has provided family and friends a unique retreat from the real world. This beautiful venue overlooking the Elk River has played host to 4 other family weddings, Thanksgivings, 4th of July parties, and countless other festivities.
