The Midnight City was playing at the Windjammer in Isle of Palms. Emily’s maid of honor was visiting - they went surfing in the morning and were planning to have a girl's night out. All of Emily’s girlfriends got together and headed to the show! James also had a visitor in town. They had a long day of boating up the Cooper River to Lake Moultrie then they both headed to the show. In a very romantic moment during this show, Emily and James happened to walk out of the bathrooms at the same time and spotted a girl making the terrible choice of walking into the bathrooms shoeless. Horrified at her choice, they both looked up at each other with disgust, then kept walking. Emily claims that she chased after James and poked him on the shoulder and said.. “Hi! I’m Emily!” And that’s how it all began.

It was James’s annual trip to the upstate for a group birthday party on Lake Hartwell. He planned a weekend getaway to show Emily all of his favorite places in the area. Little did she know - he had some other plans too! On the first night up there, he asked if she wanted to go to a vineyard to watch the sunset. They went to the beautiful Chattooga Belle Farm in Longcreek, SC. He wanted everything to be perfect so he kept waiting for the one other person on the grounds to leave. Just as they left, another group of people decided to show up. It was now or never, the sun was setting soon. They walked to the end of of the grape arbor and he popped the question. Luckily, he had the drone flying to capture the whole thing!
