Sunny and 65...just kidding...maybe. September is a bit of a swing month, and could be the sunniest and warmest month of the year (highs in the 70s). Or it could snow. In the words of Jacob Platt, "there's no bad weather, just bad gear." We recommend packing layers, as the weather can change quickly and could vary drastically. Definitely consider bringing a rain jacket :-).
Yes! They are a bit spendy (they run about $10 to get places in town, $20 to get places out of town). The companies are Red's taxi (907.224.2727) or Resurrection Taxi (907.224.5678).
Lost Lake trail is a 7 mile, round trip, hike near our hose that is spectacular. Mt. Marathon hike will give you the best overlook of the town (and is the site of the famous 4th of July Mt. Marathon run). Tonsina is a beauty - where we will have a group hike Friday morning. Mt. Alice takes you off the beaten trail. 4th of July beach isn't really a hike but is a nice beach you can walk up to and beach comb.
It's 120 miles from Anchorage. There will be a 90 mile stretch of highway after you pass Girdwood (marked by an Essential gas station and mini mall of food places - the bakery there is pretty good). You will see little huts along the way with toilets. Take your time and don't be afraid to pull off to take in all of the scenery. You will find many places along this way that is sure to take your breath away!
If you are planning on getting between Anchorage and Seward by train or bus, you can rent a car in Seward or there is a town bus that goes around...and many things are within walking distant if you're staying in town. Many of the tours will pick you up at your accommodations, However, if you want to go hiking, explore nearby areas, leave the downtown/harbor, or get to the wedding ceremony, you will need to take a taxi or find someone else in the group who can take you...or call Jacob :-).
