In order to allow all guests, including parents, an evening of relaxation we have chosen for our wedding day to be an adult only celebration.

Are there any special attire notes we should know?

Our ceremony will be outside on the front lawn of Houmas House- so ladies might want to consider this when choosing their footwear. As the plantation sits on the banks of the beautiful Mississippi River, we also recommend a bit of bug spray.

What time should I arrive for the ceremony?

Guests can begin entering Houmas House at 6:45. Please take your seats by 7:15

Where can I park?

Answer

There is free parking available at the entrance to Houmas House. The ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and after party are all at Houmas House- so once you park, you're good for the night!

Is there transportation to the wedding?

Answer

If you are staying at one of the 2 hotels we have a hotel block at, yes. We have a coach bus scheduled to pick you up and drop you back off afterwards. Please check the "travel & accommodations" page to see the bus schedule.

What is an “unplugged ceremony”?

Answer

An unplugged ceremony is where only the professional photographer is allowed to take pictures. It is our wish that during our ceremony, guests respectfully keep their cell phones off and stowed away. However, feel free to snap all the pics you want at the cocktail hour & reception!

What precautions are being taken for COVID?

Answer

The health and safety of our loved ones is our priority. Houmas House offers plenty of indoor and outdoor space for guests to spread out. Sanitizer will be available throughout the venue.
