It was Christmas Eve of 2014. Julia had just wrapped up a wonderful celebration with her family and was tucking into bed for the night. Feeling fulfilled but hopeful, she felt inspired to do one quick search on Okcupid. She used to do comedic improv back in high school and always liked the people she met. She typed in "Improv" and Kevin's profile came up as one of the first. He had mentioned improv on his profile in passing. What really drew her in though, was the picture of Kevin making a chocolate lava cake while flexing his muscles (he still claims he wasn't flexing--they were just that big). What a lady killer! Julia wrote to Kevin "Where do you do improv?". Kevin wrote back three paragraphs. We messaged back and forth and ended up on our first date on January 2--that lasted 6 hours and and 4 changes of location.
We went on a month long trip last December (2018)--going to our friend's wedding in India but stopping by Thailand before and Cambodia and Vietnam after. It was an awesome adventure, and one we highly anticipated. Kevin conspired with Julia's friends and got a ring (well, actually two due to some shipping time snafus) and carried the ring he had around every day waiting for the right moment--which finally came the night before the trip ended. We were on a beautiful rooftop enjoying dessert and cocktails as part of our tasting menu at the delicious Anan Saigon. The only other people left the roof and it was just the two of us. Kevin handed Julia a photobook, telling her it was a late Christmas gift and to read it aloud. It had the proposal with each line relating to pictorial great moments in their relationship and inside jokes. At the end, it said to look down, and Kevin was on his knee with a ring and proposing in Hungarian "Hozzám jössz" (Translation: Will you Marry Me). Julia cried and immediately said yes (in English so Kevin would know the response).
