Matt and Katie met in the summer of 2016 through PADA’s Fairmount Park ultimate frisbee league. After a summer of getting to know each other, bonding over post-game yoga and Fifth Harmony songs, they made it official right before Matt went back to George Mason for his final year of college. They did long distance on and off over five years, using their weekends together to go on hikes, visit restaurants, and plan the next big trip. In August 2020, Matt moved in with Katie, starting a new chapter in Conshohocken - and the rest is history!

While on vacation in Wyoming in September 2021, Matt made a plan to see the sunrise at Schwabacher’s Landing in Grand Teton National Park (a plan which Katie thought she suggested - very sneaky!). Matt set up a cheap tripod to take a photo of them while they were surrounded by dozens of professional photographers who could have assisted. As they posed for the perfect shot on the bank of the Snake River with the Grand Tetons in the background, he got down on one knee! Once Katie said yes, he introduced her to their hidden photographer who caught it all on camera.
