Mont Saint-Michel
One of my favourite places in France. It is truly magical! ... Oh and yes, I know it's not it Brittany, but people are still arguing (Pierre being one of them). Mont Saint-Michel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a marvel of medieval architecture and one of France’s most iconic landmarks. Perched on a rocky island off the coast of Normandy, it rises dramatically from the sea, creating a breathtaking silhouette that seems straight out of a fairytale - For more information don't hesitate to ask Serge, Pierre's dad, he's actually from the area!
Saint-Malo
Another favourite place. Saint-Malo, a picturesque walled city on the northern coast of Brittany, is a destination brimming with charm, history, and seaside allure. Known as the "City of Corsairs," it was once a haven for privateers and seafaring adventurers, and its storied past is reflected in its impressive ramparts and cobblestone streets. It's also a paradise for beach lovers. With its sweeping sands and vibrant seaside activities, it’s perfect for relaxation and water sports. The local cuisine, especially fresh seafood and Breton specialties like galettes and cider, is another highlight. Saint-Malo’s unique blend of maritime heritage, stunning coastal scenery, and vibrant culture make it a must-visit destination for anyone. Oh and let's not forget, if you are in for some tasty local food, you must pay the city a visit!
Cancale
I call all oyster lovers! Cancale, a charming coastal town on the Emerald Coast of Brittany, is celebrated as the oyster capital of France and a haven for lovers of fresh seafood and natural beauty. Overlooking the stunning Mont Saint-Michel Bay, Cancale offers breathtaking vistas and a tranquil atmosphere that beckons visitors to unwind and savor its unique charm. A visit to Cancale is incomplete without sampling its world-famous oysters, harvested fresh from the bay.The town's lively oyster market along the harbor is a feast for the senses, where you can taste these delicacies while gazing at the sea. Cancale’s seafood restaurants further elevate the experience, offering dishes crafted with the freshest local ingredients (Ask for #2 caliber oysters, with a glass of Muscadet, or have a galette at Breizh Café). Dinan, perched above the River Rance in Brittany, is a medieval gem that enchants visitors with its well-preserved history, cobblestone streets, and half-timbered houses.
