We met as children attending Trinity Church Central Oahu. Truthfully neither of us remembers meeting, just countless memories playing as kids. By middle school we had an odd little crush triangle. I had a crush on another close friend and he had a crush on me. During that time he left for Texas and my family began attending another church. We kept in touch over the years. Years later as adults, his first duty station turned out to be Hawaii and I was living in Seattle, Washington. On a trip back to Hawaii we decided to meet up. We met for breakfast and decided to meet again for dinner later that same day.
Since we had known each other most of our lives we didn't date for long. We knew each other very well and realized very early on that we both were looking for something real and lasting. We began discussing the idea of getting married. Since we were living in different states at the time, he actually mailed me an engagement ring.
We were married on Oahu on November 10, 2018 during a visit to Hawaii for the Marine Corps Ball. So yes, we do share an anniversary with the Marine Corps Birthday. It was a very small, personal two-minute ceremony. So we can't wait to celebrate with all of you!
