(Story time by Phuong!) Jesse had planned a family/birthday trip to San Simeon, one of our favorite places! Ever have one of those days where it felt like everything went wrong? Well...that's what it felt like for us. Going to the car rental place, they did not have the car he had reserved and ended up with a very large truck that was a gas guzzler, an added expense that we did not expect. We took the truck unwillingly and went on our way though! For anyone that knows me, knows I get motion sickness when going through windy roads. I had forgotten my Dramamine. #failnumber2 I ended up having to ask him to pull over twice because of it. We eventually made it to the hotel right before sunset and I ended up laying in the hotel while he and his son, Evan, decided to go check out the beach. After some time went by, Evan came back to the room to check on me. Asked if I thought I could make it down to the beach because Jesse was out there. I felt ok enough and decided to join because I wanted to see the sun set. We started heading towards the beach and as my luck goes, I twisted my ankle walking right between the grass and sand lol. #failnumber3 As I sat on the ground, holding my ankle, I thought to myself if it was going to be like this the whole time. I was able to eventually get up and limp my way down to the beach. Although it took longer, I managed to make my way down to Jesse's location, where he had set up a cute little area. I was "awwing" because he had pictures of us, our rabbits, and it completely went over my head because I thought this was sweet gesture for a birthday trip. Then I noticed the sign "And so the adventure begins" and he said his speech. We were both caught up in the moment that I asked him "You have to say 'Will you marry me'" before he even got to it! The ring had been sitting on the small table the whole time, sitting inside a sea shell. One of the sweetest things was having Evan included in the proposal (yes he knew the whole time!) and he caught it all on camera, my ugly cry and all. Despite a few of the setbacks that day of, I wouldn't trade it for the world. We are so excited for our next adventure in life together and we can't wait to celebrate it with all of you.
