We met online during the pandemic, a time when the world felt anything but normal. Phoebe was working as a Labor and Delivery nurse at the time, and Gavin, a paramedic. We quickly bonded over conversations about work experiences and delivering babies. Between shared stories, late-night chats, and Gavin’s (sometimes) dark sense of humour, our connection formed easily and naturally. Early on, there was a small and now very funny miscommunication. During COVID, when Gavin asked, “How do you feel about hanging out right now?” Phoebe quickly and enthusiastically replied, “I’m down! I’m not free right now, but I am free tonight!”, not realizing he meant in the context of the pandemic, not literally at that exact moment. Gavin, of course, thought Phoebe was very eager to meet him. Thankfully, despite the confusion, the timing turned out to be just right. What started as a simple conversation grew into something so much more. A partnership built on love, laughter, and a shared passion for caring for others. To this day, it’s still an ongoing debate about who actually made the first move!
