As many modern couples do, we met on a dating app, Bumble. We had our first date, a few days after Catherine's 24th birthday, at an Irish pub in Newark where Phil grew up and Catherine was attending grad school. We talked for a very long time that night, including talking about not wanting to fall too hard too fast (whoops). Phil offered to walk Catherine home, which she let him, but she thought, "ugh, this guy is going to want to kiss me." Well, he did, but they both enjoyed it. That summer, Catherine's lease was up but she was still working on her Master's thesis, so she ended up moving in with Phil and Al (thank you!). One day when they were hanging out with their friends playing Jack Box on the Xbox, they were on a team together and needed a team name to display. Chelsea dubbed them PhillyCat and the name has stuck. After she finished her degree, Catherine was looking for environmental jobs throughout the mid-Atlantic and the Northeast, and ended up landing a job at the EPA lab in NJ. Luckily, Phil worked for Solar City at the time and was able to request a transfer, so in September 2016, we moved to North Brunswick, NJ, where we lived for two years, made some great friends, and hosted regular game nights and themed parties. Phil unfortunately lost his job so he was trying to get back into healthcare. Catherine suggested he look in Albany since there are a lot of healthcare opportunities in the Capital District and she wouldn't mind visiting him and her family there. As it turned out, Catherine was able to get a job in Albany and follow Phil just a month later. Phil is grateful for Rachel who connected him to his first healthcare job in Albany and gave him a place to live while Catherine was finishing up her time at EPA. Catherine found a great little apartment in Rotterdam and we have been living here ever since. We have enjoyed building a home together with our chinchilla Leonardo. We continue to host regular game nights, themed parties, and hangouts with our friends and family. We have had many great adventures locally, while visiting family in Delaware, and on weekends or weeks away together over the past several years. We will be celebrating our tenth anniversary in March 2026 and cannot wait to celebrate our wedding with all of you in May 2026!
