Hotel
We have secured a room block at this hotel for $229/night. To access the room block booking, click the "View" button below. We have reserved Saturday, Oct 18 - Monday, Oct 20 for this room block, but you may extend these dates by calling the hotel directly and referencing our room block name (Phillips/Watson). This hotel is located between downtown and Chinatown, in a vibrant and walkable area. Moxy is part of the Marriott hotel group, and is a fun, funky option with a killer rooftop bar called Lucha Rosa. The rooms are smaller but the hotel details are very playful (I.e. bright colors, foosball tables, and retro video games in the lobby). It's a great budget-friendlier option!
Flight
D.C. has 3 local airports - DCA is the smallest, but also the closest to the city (about 15-20 mins away), the others are BWI and IAD (both about 45 mins away). DCA is definitely the easiest / closest airport to the city. It is also metro-accessible via the Blue or Silver Metro lines, takes about 20 minutes, and costs about $3. The metro station is connected to the airport terminal and tickets can be purchased at the metro station using your smart phone.
Flight
BWI is a large international airport with many flight options. It's about a 45 min drive from D.C. There are two trains you can take from the airport into DC called the MTA MARC train or the Amtrak train. There is a free shuttle service between the MARC/Amtrak train station and BWI. MARC is cheaper (less than $10) than Amtrak. Both trains will take you from BWI to D.C., dropping you at Union Station. MARC tickets can be purchased at train station kiosks at the BWI station or Union Station. Amtrak tickets can be purchased online.
Flight
IAD is another large, international airport about 45 minutes away from D.C. It is accessible by metro via the Silver Line, will get you from IAD to the center of the city in about 1hr and costs about $5. The metro station is connected to the airport terminal and tickets can be purchased at the metro station using your smart phone.
Travel Note
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meeting for 2025 will be taking place the week of October 13 - October 19. Delegations from across the world are traveling to DC that week, so there may be heightened security around the White House (near our venue) as well as a lack of hotel availability that week. We highly encourage guests to secure their housing (hotels or airbnbs) ASAP before prices go up or availability goes down. Many of the priciest hotels near downtown (4&5 stars) are already booked that week. If you are looking for a *luxury* hotel option, Mike and Katie will be staying at The Conrad hotel that weekend and highly recommend it!
